Jon Sturman (Activ Cycles) took victory by over a minute in the Border City Wheelers hilly 20-mile time trial, stages on the L202 near Lazonby in Cumbria on Easter Sunday.

The 46-year-old left his competitors for dust as he stomped around the circuit, clocking a time of 49 minutes and eight seconds.

Behind him, home club rider Richard Bickley clinched second in a time of 50.10, while Dan Taylor (Birdwell Wheelers) headed the pack in third.

Seventeen-year-old Tom Roper (Beacon Wheelers) recorded a 51.02 to claim the first junior prize and fifth overall.

Team Bottrill rider Kerry Gowland took the women’s prize clocking a time of 1:02.50 which was 43 seconds faster than Carol Westmorland (Border City Wheelers).
