Same team, different rider, as Paceline RT’s Keith Lea takes day two of Team Axiom’s Weekender on Sunday.
Lea was just shy of breaking the 50 minute barrier for the 25 mile distance, clocking 50.03 to put Gary Chambers (Fareham Wheelers) into second place with 50.15. Hampshire RC’s Tom Pritchard took the remaining podium place with just three seconds to spare, recording 50.23.
Mark Smith (Crawley Wheelers) took the Vet A category, Rick Froud (Alton CC-Owens Cycles) the Vet B, with Martin Winter (Twickenham CC) winning the Vet C category and Mike O’Gorman (Worthing Excelsior) the Vet D prize.
The Fareham Wheelers team of Chambers, Paul Ashley and Andy Smith beat the Charlotteville Cycles team of James Wright, Matthew Parfitt and Ieuan Woods to the first team prize.
Over half the field were put off by the poor weather, compared to the fine and fast conditions enjoyed on the opening day of the weekender.
